Sound does not work in Hp Vista laptop?

Nancy asks…
No sound from laptop speakers, but there is sound when i plug in headphones?
The laptop is ASUS F3J, Windows Vista, Realtek HD Audio.
I’ve checked all Sound settings in the Control Panel. I’ve tried reinstalling the drivers. I’ve tried updating the drivers. I’ve tried editing the value of ForceDisableJD in Regedit. I’ve tried reformatting the computer and adding a new OS (Vista). Yet, the speakers still doesn’t work.
There is a red light that is always on inside of the headphone jack and when I plug in my headphones, I can everything on my laptop. Youtube, system sounds, everything. When I unplug it, the red light is still there and there isn’t any sound from the speakers. I’ve googled this problem and browsed several forums and pages and I’m still stuck. It’s greatly appreciated if anyone has some insight.
(Note: Hardware fix is a last resort.)

Try all your control panel setting, look for sound drivers (but that shouldn’t be the problem here). As Daniel said your speakers may be blown or just not working. Take them to a IT specialist for a look.
Your computer may be think8ing headphone are always in, it may be a problem but you could get external speakers that plug into the headphone port. Atleast you would have sound.
Hope that hepled, Brodie

Sound does not work in Hp Vista laptop?
The sound used to work fine. I was able to talk on skype and listen to music.
For some reason my sound just stopped working for no reason.
I have uninstalled the sound driver and re installed it and it says working. when I test the mic it recognizes it but when I play it back I hear no sound.
all has been checked over and over. eg, mute, volume levels etc
I do have a nvida video card and I read on forums that this could be the problem but there was not fix…
has anyone else had this problem and can recommend a fix?
satya s answers:
Go to settings/control panel/system/device manager
and delete the sound device and shut down. Reboot
and you should get the message “new device found” see
if windows can install it from the windows files.
If it is not there you will have to download the driver and install it manually.

If u hav inbuild mic in ur laptop than u hav to increase the mic’s cathing power….
Go to sounds in control panel and in mic tab increse the bar as shown there..
And if it appears that no mic connected than ur lap do not contain any mic which can catch ur voice..!!
In that case u hav to connect a headphone mic or an original mic..
One more thing ,,, as i hav used vista, it dont show any devices in my computer like for taking ur pictures …. U can only take videos….
It also happened with me… So i changed to windows XP….
U will face more problems with Vista… So i recommend u should change ur windows to windows XP…. Its much user friendly… And easy to use..
